Institutional Review Board (IRB)

of the Egyptian National Cancer Institute (ENCI)



The primary mission of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) is to protect the rights, welfare and privacy of all individuals participating in biomedical, social, and behavioral research activities, including field or off-site research, as conducted by NCI-Egypt faculty, staff and students.

The IRB conducts reviews of proposed research studies employing an assessment process that determines that the methodology used is consistent with sound research design and that the risk to participants/subjects is minimized. The IRB also provides interpretive assistance and support to the research community.

Dates and Deadlines

  • IRB meets on the 3rd Tuesday each month, at 12:00 PM (CLT).
  • In case the assigned date is a national holiday or during exceptional circumstances, the IRB meeting will be shifted to the 4th Tuesday of the month.
  • Documents for IRB review should be submitted NOT less than two weeks before the next scheduled meeting.
  • Meetings are held at the Small Meeting Hall in the ground floor.
